Privacy Policy

How www.vishalnishad.dev handles your data. Last updated October 10, 2026.

Overview

This is the personal portfolio and learning site of Vishal Nishad. It has no user accounts, no advertising and no analytics or tracking scripts. This policy explains the small amount of data the site does handle.

Information the site stores

  • Access cookie. The home page is password-protected. When you enter the correct password, a cookie named site_auth is set so you stay unlocked for 30 days. It holds a hashed token — not the password — and is HttpOnly, so page scripts can't read it. The password you type is checked on the server and is not stored or logged.
  • Progress checklists. The Topics and Study Plan pages save which items you've ticked off in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device; clear your browser storage to remove it.
  • Guest name. The locked home page shows a randomly generated guest name. It is created per visit and is not stored.

All of the above is strictly necessary for the features you use, so no consent banner is shown.

Server logs and hosting

Like any website, the hosting provider may automatically record standard request data — such as IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and the time — for security and reliability. These logs are not used to identify or profile visitors.

Third-party content and links

A few images are loaded directly from other sites — the profile photo from GitHub (avatars.githubusercontent.com) and an employer logo from kaarwan.com — so those sites receive your IP address when the images load. Links to GitHub, LinkedIn, X and other external sites are governed by those sites' own privacy policies.

Your rights

Because the site doesn't collect personal information on its servers, there is usually nothing to access or delete. You can remove the access cookie and checklist data at any time from your browser settings.

Changes

This policy may be updated as the site changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. See also the Terms & Conditions.
